Tranquil setting on a Christmas tree farm near the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Floyd County, Virginia The Guesthouse was built by a Thompson family (no relation) in the 1920's. The parents and 5 children lived in the basic "2 over 2 house" - kitchen and parlor on the first floor, 2 bedrooms on the second floor. Some rooms still have tongue and groove, solid American chestnut paneling on the walls. The family operated a small farm and a general store just across the road. Over the years the house was expanded to add a separate kitchen, an inside bathroom, and 2 more bedrooms.
There is a full bath on each floor. The kitchen is fully equipped. Both the kitchen and bathrooms have been upgraded recently.
Please no smoking nor pets inside! We operate a Christmas tree farm on a high plateau in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia. It is a beautiful, rural area with a temperate climate where temperatures are rarely above 90 degrees F or below 0 degrees F due to the 2600 feet elevation. The surrounding area offers many attractions including the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mabry Mill, Chateau Morrisette Winery, and a Bluegrass jamboree every Friday night in the town of Floyd. Floyd is one of the top 100 Arts and Crafts locations in the US. Within an hour's drive are Roanoke, the largest city in southwest Virginia, and Blacksburg, home of Virginia Tech. Nearby recreational opportunities include mountain golfing, swimming, hiking, biking, trout fishing, canoeing, hunting (deer and turkey), and cross country skiing. Children welcome. Great meeting place for family gatherings. Come and enjoy! |
