SHARE
encourages everybody who buys one of our food boxes to complete
two hours of volunteer service in their community.
The
volunteer work can be related to the SHARE program, but
it doesn’t have to be. Anything that you do for the
benefit of the community or an individual can count as volunteer
work at SHARE.
Volunteer
work can be:
- Babysitting
for a neighbor
- Volunteering
at a hospice
- Organizing
a graffiti paint-out
- Church
activities
- PTA
meetings
- Ruritan
club events
- And
volunteering for your SHARE program
SHARE
encourages volunteer work because the SHARE founder, Carl
Shelton, saw it as a way to address the spiritual
poverty we often experience in today's society. This donation
of time and talents reminds participants that we are all
connected and their contributions, regardless of economic
status, are vital to the community.
If you
live near a SHARE warehouse, you can also participate in
SHARE bagging week. See the SHARE schedule or contact SHARE
for more information.
